BLANKETS FOR LONDON 2023
In 2023, after 3 iterations, we transformed our seasonal project Blankets for Lambeth into Blankets for London. Due to the overwhelming response and participations in our Knit Clubs and in our donation scheme, we decided to expand the project to assemble even more blankets for people experiencing houselessness across the city.
In 2023 we assembled a record number of 174 blankets.
We decided to distribute the blankets to the five London boroughs with the most number of people reported sleeping rough.
We assembled and delivered through our partner charities a record number of 174 blankets.
Across 2023, we facilitated ten monthly knitting workshops sponsored by The National Lottery Community Fund at our HQ 3Space International House in Brixton; we also held three knitting workshops, one assembling workshop and one six hours knitting and crochet marathon at The Science Gallery London sponsored by The Lambeth Council across October, November and December.
We facilitated one workshop sponsored and held at NOW Gallery, one workshop sponsored by University of the Arts London in Camberwell, one workshop hosted at Hypha Studios in Stratford and sponsored by the Repair Collective, one workshop at The Feminist Library in Peckham, one workshop at The Create Place (St. Margaret’s House) in Bethnal Green, one workshop at Staffordshire St. Gallery in Peckham, one workshop at Four Otter Studio in Wood Green, and one assembling workshop at Battersea Arts Centre, sponsored by London Arts and Health during their London Creative Health City conference.
We also partnered with Mulberry School for Girls and Queen Elizabeth Girls School to host regular knitting and crochet clubs with the students to contribute to Blankets for London.
We are so honoured to have seen the project thrive in 2023, and are so excited and grateful for our collective growth!
